European Platform on Life Cycle Assessment

The EPLCA is the EU’s knowledge base that responds to business and policy needs towards sustainable production and consumption. It supports the methodological development of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the analysis of supply chains and end-of-life waste management.

What we do

The European Platform on Life Cycle Assessment provides harmonised methods, data, and tools to integrate life cycle thinking into EU policy and business practice.  Specifically, it aims to:

  • Develop and harmonise methodologies (e.g. Environmental Footprint) for robust policy use
  • Provide access to databases, tools, and case studies supporting sustainable production and consumption
  • Supply evidence for major EU frameworks such as the Green Deal, Circular Economy Action Plan, and Farm to Fork Strategy
  • Support all stages of the policy cycle, ensuring coherence across initiatives
