Among the deliverables generated by the Food Systems Summit, the National Pathways to sustainable food systems and the Coalitions for Actions are key elements to support the transformation of food systems.

126 countries adopted national pathways. These are plans of actions to be undertaken for food systems transformation.

A total of 31 self-organizing and independent coalitions emerged from the UN Food Systems Summit. The primary purpose of these coalitions is to catalyse the achievement of all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through support to national pathways implementation.

The European Commission participates in the following coalitions:

• School Meals
• Healthy Diets
• Zero Hunger
• Food is Never Waste
• Agroecology
• Sustainable Productivity Growth
• Aquatic / Blue Food
• Fighting Food Crises along the Humanitarian, Development and Peace Nexus 

The report of the General Secretary to the Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS + 2) provided an assessment of the implementation of the national pathways as well as the state of play of the coalitions for action.

The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub was established as an immediate outcome of the UNFSS to sustain the Summit’s follow-up. The Hub articulates its work around 6 key functions: facilitation of national pathways implementation, convening of the global ecosystem of support, strengthening the means of implementation, communication, and advocacy for food systems transformations, and thought leadership. The Hub has also established a database of good practices for food systems transformation.

A high-level UN Food Systems Advisory Group has been established to support the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub (the Hub) in accelerating the transition to sustainable food systems as one of the most effective entry points to rescue the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The Biennial Work Plan of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub covers activities planned for 2026-2027. This third Work Plan works around three strategic pillars (i) Enabling country solutions, including in complex settings (ii) Strengthening the National Convenors’ network and capacities, (iii) Global advocacy and convening UN Food Systems Summit Stocktakes (iii) Science, innovation, and knowledge.

The Convergence Initiative, launched by the UN Deputy Secretary-General at COP28, drives the integration of food systems transformation and climate action for accelerated sustainable development. Convergence Action Blueprint are being developed i.a. for Cameroon, Ethiopia and Indonesia.
