Crop fungal infestation leads to crop losses on one side and adversely impacts the health of consumers. Because of climatic changes (atypical drought and/or prolonged rainfall periods), the situation of mycotoxin prevention is expected to become even more challenging. In this framework, the EU supports research projects to combat and reduce mycotoxins levels in the food and feed chain. The EU adopts legislation to protect consumers and supports research projects to reduce mycotoxins levels in the food and feed chain.
