The Food and Beverages Labels Explorer (FABLE) has published a new module that allows the visualisation of temporal trends in the average energy and nutrient content of foods, broken down by sub-category.
This new 'Trends' module is a key tool for monitoring the nutritional quality of the food supply.
It will be updated in the coming years with new data from the JA Prevent-NCD.
The existing 'Nutrients' module, which contains information on the energy and nutrient content of branded food and drink products, has also been updated to include a new feature. Users can now choose to view the data from a specific study, or simply visualise the latest data for each country and food subcategory, regardless of the study.
Background information
FABLE is a web tool developed by the JRC to support the public monitoring of the nutritional quality of the food offer across Europe. It contains over 180.000 labels across 32 food categories in 21 countries. FABLE consists of interactive modules that enable policymakers, researchers and the public to explore and visualise the information in various ways.
