European Cancer Inequalities Registry Analytical report 2026

The European Commission has launched the 2nd edition of the EU Analytical Report 2026 on Delivering High Value Cancer Care.

Following World Cancer Day, the European Commission hosted a webinar to launch the 2nd edition of the EU Analytical Report 2026 on Delivering High Value Cancer Care. The report is produced in collaboration with the OECD as part of the European Cancer Inequalities Registry (ECIR)

It identifies the ways in which EU Member States, Norway and Iceland are working to improve the quality of cancer care. These can serve as best practices for other countries.

The key findings of the report include the following:

  1. Delays in accessing cancer diagnosis and treatment continue to cost lives;
  2. Variations in medical practice and care quality reduce survival rates and quality of life;
  3. Less person-centred care negatively impacts the physical health, well-being, and social functioning of patients.
