Nature-based solutions are multifunctional measures supporting nature while providing key functions for water management
With nature-based solutions, we aim at enhancing the retention and natural purification of water, thus improving water availability and quality
Restoration of whole natural habitats, such as lakes or wetlands, may be very effective and cost-efficient nature-based solutions
Nature-based solutions with a more limited scope, but high potential effectiveness, include treatment wetlands, retention ponds, vegetated buffer strips, and managed aquifer recharge ponds
