This year, the Community of Practice - CITIES (CoP-CITIES) is gathering for its annual plenary meeting in Brussels. Urban policy experts, members of the Community and representatives of the European Commission will gather to reflect on the plenary's theme: How to foster cities of equality?
After an update on urban activities within the CoP-CITIES and the European Commission, discussions will tackle the issues of inequalities affecting people, and of inequalities affecting places. This year, the Community is glad to welcome speakers from Eurocities, Housing Europe and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, as well as from European Commission services. Urban policy expert Eddy Adams will moderate the event. Further details are available in the agenda.
The meeting will take place on 11 October, 12:00 - 15:00 CET, at the premises of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Brussels, Rue du Champ de Mars 21 (CDMA building). It is an official side event of the European Week of Regions and Cities.
The Community of Practice - CITIES empowers cities, city networks, academia and NGOs to share knowledge and expertise on urban issues, to anticipate potential challenges and to generate scientific evidence.
Each year, all current and aspiring Community members come together to support cities in being leading actors of change for sustainability, climate neutrality, resilience, digitalisation, and inclusion.
CoP-CITIES is a shared initiative of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission.
Registrations to the Community's plenary meeting are now closed. The event will be live streamed.
