The event is organised in the framework of the pilot project “REGIONS2030: Monitoring the SDGs in the EU regions - Filling the data gaps", funded by the European Parliament and developed by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in collaboration with DG REGIO and ESTAT. The REGIONS2030 pilot project aims to create knowledge on regional monitoring frameworks for SDGs. This event, jointly organised by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and the Andalusia Region, is part of a group of 10 events that take place in each of the Pilot Regions participating in the project.
Raising awareness on and commitment to the SDGs framework is one of the key interests expressed by Junta de Andalucía in the frame of the REGIONS2030 project. Specifically, awareness the governance process and at the monitoring stage is crucial, to ensure SDGs mainstream through policy cycle. This event aims at bringing together stakeholders from planning & strategy regional ministerial units, as well as local administrations and official data producers, in order to present the results of REGIONS2030 project and reinforce SDGs localization core enablers, namely:
- Stakeholders engagement: through promotion of local and regional voluntary reviews enabling public oversight, transparency and accountability
- Institutional environment and policy coherence: through promotion of collaboration at all levels of government (regional-local) and on interesectoral basis (horizontal and vertical intersectoral integration)
- Data ecosystems: through data sharing and integration among regional units and different levels of governments (vertical and horizontal), being the office for regional statistics at the center of this ecosystem.
The results of the regional activities will be presented in the final event of the REGIONS2030 project on 5 December 2023, in Brussels.
