This section lists other EU-funded projects that contribute to understanding the impact of trade on biodiversity and the role that trade policy can have in mitigating biodiversity loss.
Value Chain Analysis for Development (VCA4D)
The VCA4D project performs value chain analyses (VCAs) across a range of agricultural commodities (including tropical commodities imported in the EU such as cocoa, palm oil and coffee) and countries in order to assess their sustainability from an economic, social and environmental perspective.
This regional project brings together state and non-state actors to increase trans-boundary coordination, and leverage on policy reforms and actions to combat wildlife trafficking between Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao PDR and China, through CSO-Government partnerships. It is also facilitating the coordination and collection of information and intelligence between CITES checkpoints, protected areas and wildlife crime units.
EU Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Facility
The EU FLEGT Facility supports the implementation of the EU FLEGT Action Plan with a focus on Voluntary Partnership Agreements (VPAs), setting out a programme of actions that forms the EU’s response to the problem of illegal logging and the trade in associated timber products.
