Supporting Smart Specalisation Strategies and Technology Transfer in South-East Europe

This report contains a summary of the discussions held and the presentations made at the high-level conference "Supporting Smart Specialisation and Technology Transfer in South-East Europe" on 18 June 2019.

The plenary and thematic parallel sessions discussed from various perspectives the progress, results and challenges related to the design and implementation of successful Smart Specialisation Strategies, innovation ecosystems and Technology Transfer instruments and strategies. This was done in comparison of the experiences of the Western Balkan economies with those of the EU Member States.

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission co-organised the conferenceĀ at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, Romania. The conference, officially part of the programme of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, was organised in collaboration with the Romanian Ministry of Research and Innovation and the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI).
