Local government planning for community food systems

What makes places habitable for people? The profession of planningi has long wrestled with this seemingly simple question. In its grandest definition, planning is about creating the conditions in communities such that people can lead full, healthy, and meaningful lives. An essential element of what makes places work is, of course, food. Food is essential for sustenance and health, a marker of people’s identities, and, simply, a source of joy.
