In support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Member States and country offices, the FAO Subregional Office for Eastern Africa (SFE) in 2018 published a five–year Resilience Strategy and a two–year Resilience Programme of Work 2018–2019. Thanks to generous contributions from resource partners, a significant part of the Programme of Work has been implemented.
However, in order to sustainably transform the lives and livelihoods of Eastern Africa’s rural population and reduce the number of people facing acute food insecurity, FAO must bring these programmes to scale, learn (openly) from both its successes and failures, and make the deliberate choice of building multi–dimensional partnerships.
