The ÖVAF contributes to the networking and coordination of Austrian research strategies in the field of bioeconomy and sustainable development. In 2015 ÖVAF and BIOS Science Austria founded the initiative Bioeconomy Austria (www.bioeconomy-austria.at) to develop and accelerate the Austrian bioeconomy. The aim of ÖVAF in regard to bioeconomy is to launch cross-institutional platforms and discussion groups, to identify medium and long-term content, to support the coordination process between the various relevant Austrian research programs and to further develop and strengthen the Bioeconomy Austria initiative.
