Why this community?
Evidence-informed policymaking is not new. At the same time, those involved in producing, brokering or using scientific and other reliable and relevant evidence to design policies know that realising evidence-informed policymaking in practice is no easy feat. From practical challenges, such as matching timelines of evidence production and use, to bridging differences in professional cultures between those creating and those using evidence, one thing is clear: grounding policies in evidence early and repeatedly does not happen on its own. Therefore, the purpose of this community is, to support and connect those who are at the forefront of (building) the institutional infrastructure and practical expertise needed to strengthen evidence-informed policymaking ecosystems in Europe. This initiative is in line with recent political commitment on such as the Council conclusions on the impact of research and innovation (R&I) in policymaking, the Ghent declaration by European Ministers responsible for public administration, the Commission’s strategy on enhancing the European Public Administration Space (COMPACT) and the European Research Area Policy Agenda 2025 – 2027. |
