European Community of Practice on Evidence-Informed Policymaking

Building a practitioner-focused community for those at the forefront of evidence-informed policymaking in Europe

Why this community?

Evidence-informed policymaking is not new. At the same time, those involved in producing, brokering or using scientific and other reliable and relevant evidence to design policies know that realising evidence-informed policymaking in practice is no easy feat. From practical challenges, such as matching timelines of evidence production and use, to bridging differences in professional cultures between those creating and those using evidence, one thing is clear: grounding policies in evidence early and repeatedly does not happen on its own.

Therefore, the purpose of this community is, to support and connect those who are at the forefront of (building) the institutional infrastructure and practical expertise needed to strengthen evidence-informed policymaking ecosystems in Europe.

Who is it for?

We welcome knowledge brokers, policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders working on evidence-informed policymaking, including science for policy, from any sector across Europe.

Importantly, the community is dedicated to the practice of evidence-informed policymaking. Its focus is on those with experience in policy advice or policymaking.
