Youth Policy Dialogues are organised by the Commission to provide a platform for young people to engage directly with European policymakers.
On 4 February, World Cancer Day, the European Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare Olivér Várhelyi hosted a Youth Policy Dialogue on Cancer. The event brought together 30 young cancer survivors and early-career oncology professionals from across the EU.
Commissioner Várhelyi aimed to better understand the lived experiences of young cancer patients and professionals, with discussions centred on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (EBCP), cancer care, and survivor support. Participants welcomed the initiative and voiced strong support for the EBCP, stressing the need to address young cancer patients' and survivors' unique needs.
Commissioner Várhelyi underscored the Commission’s commitment to addressing the issues raised through the EBCP.
