The JRC is since 2015 operating the Central Registry of EUROCAT – the European network of population-based registries for the surveillance of congenital anomalies. This activity is part of the European Platform on Rare Disease Registration (EU RD Platform).
The annual EUROCAT Registry Leaders’ Meeting (RLM) and the EUROCAT Coding Workshop will be organised from 30 September to 02 October 2025 in Seville, Spain. These meetings are central events for the EUROCAT Network composed of more than 40 registries from 20 countries. Approximately 70 participants will discuss the latest data collection, analyse clusters and trends in congenital anomalies, present scientific projects of the network, welcome news from the local registries. Overviews of the related projects EUROmediCAT and EUROlinkCAT will be given.
Back-to-back to the RLM, the Coding Workshop will familiarise the participants with newest aspects of coding and classification of congenital anomalies and deliver a training for the use of the new version of the Data Management System developed by the JRC staff.
The RLM is also a key tool to personally meet the leaders of the registries, to strengthen the collaboration between them and the JRC-EUROCAT Central Registry team and to plan future activities.
