Dear EWG-MCDA members,
As you know from the press, currently the coronavirus is spreading around Europe.
The Lombardy region, in the North of Italy, is affected by this emergency. The Lake Maggiore area, where the JRC site is, has recently been classified as "yellow area" by the Italian Government (i.e., schools are closed, and sport, religious and cultural events have been postponed or canceled). We cannot foresee how this state of affairs will evolve in the coming weeks. The general suggestion is to reduce as much as possible travelling and social activities.
Given the deep uncertainty characterizing the current situation, in agreement with the EWG-MCDA Group Coordinators, we have decided to cancel the 91-st Meeting of the EURO Working Group on Multiple Criteria Decision Aiding, planned from Thursday April 2nd to Saturday April 4th, 2020, at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, Ispra site, Italy.
We are extremely sad to announce this meeting cancellation.

Practical information
Coming to Ispra
By road
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is located in Ispra, on the eastern shore of the Lago Maggiore, approximately 60 km from Milan. Coming from the A8/A26 highway, exit at Sesto Calende/Vergiate and take the freeway north to Laveno and Besozzo, coming through Mercallo and Comabbio. At the seventh traffic light, turn left to Cadrezzate. Go through Cadrezzate towards Ispra up to the roundabout in front of the JRC main entrance.
By plane
The best way to access Ispra by air is via the Malpensa International Airport, that is 30 km from JRC Ispra. As alternative, Milano Linate airport (at around 95 km) could be used. The JRC will arrange a free shuttle service to transfer participants from/to both these airports only. Prior to the event you will receive information regarding pick-up times, transport will be grouped which may involve a short wait.
By train
The best options are: Milano Central Station, Gallarate or Sesto Calende. From/to all these three stations there will be a free shuttle service.
Program
Social activities
Thursday evening
The social dinner on Thursday April 2nd will be somewhat informal and will include live music. We are happy to inform that this social dinner will be fully free of charge.
Saturday
The social event on Saturday 4th will be a night at the opera at the "Teatro alla Scala" in Milan. There will be a bus transport from the hotels (only the ones indicated in the official list) to Milan and back after the opera. Unfortunately we have only a limited number of tickets available, thus the selection criterion is first booked first served. When registering in this web page, you can find the available options and relative prices (the price includes bus transportation too). We plan to leave from hotels at 15,00. There will be about three hours to visit Milan city centre. The opera starts at 20,00.

Pelléas et Mélisande
From 4 to 24 April 2020
Claude Debussy
Running Time: 2 hours 50 minutes intermission included

On Saturday 4th there will be its first representation, we are confident it will be a remarkable event.
